Bad news first: I got in a car crash on Monday. Although it was really scary and freaked me out, I couldn’t help but think about Grand Theft Auto IV. Is that sick? As soon as my car hit the other, my first thought was, “I hope she’s OK.” Then I thought, “Hmm, I hope this nice looking older lady isn’t a GTA fan. In the new game, I would get my booty rocked with a tire iron!” I was thinking about how it felt when the two cars hit and how the new game is supposed to do such a great job at reenacting this feeling.
As we pulled over, I found myself making parallels between this situation and my hopes for the game. Well, last night I finally got my hands on it and, although I only touched the surface, I did get into a scenario much like my real life situation (only I was in a cab because this one is based in more of a city). My first real crash in the game blew me away as I went flying out of the windshield (which obviously played out much more violently than my real-life crash) and had rad looking graphics that are far superior to the other GTA titles. Look out for amazingly real-looking people and crashes, funny story lines, and a whole new set of maps that were a little confusing for me at first, but very intriguing. Of course you’re getting rocking tunes and all the usual suspicious characters as well. As far as how the game is doing on eBay, I saw nearly 650 GTA IV units sell in the past week and expect to see even more of a frenzy build over the next few weeks. If you’re not a fan of the GTA titles, check out some of the movie-inspired games coming out this week like Iron Man and Speed Racer or go old-school with Mario Kart Wii. OK, back to Liberty City.
