Some people should just stick to their day job. One of those people is Mariah Carey. She’s got the pipes but she does not have the chops. No matter how many B-movies she makes that virtually no one ever sees, she can’t shake the bad rap. Her crowning achievement as a thespian was when she made Glitter. However, she (in my opinion) faired better in Wisegirls, a 2002 release where she played a waitress with a Long Island accent and bad hair (not too much of a stretch). In her new film, Tennessee, Carey plays another down on her luck waitress with bad hair and an even worse accent, this time it’s vaguely southern. I don’t know what’s worse, the unbelievable tone of her voice or the scene where she strums a guitar on stage. It’s just a hot mess.

The Gossip Girl gals have all the goods! eBay is selling tons of ‘as seen on Gossip Girl’ items, such as this Tory Burch dress.
Brooke Hogan will star in a new VH1 reality show premiering Sunday, July 13th. The show, ‘Brooke Knows Best,’ will follow the 19-year-old, aspiring pop-star’s life. Fans can purchase all sorts of Brooke Hogan memorabilia on eBay.
Mariah Carey is back on top. Could it be her recent marriage to singer Nick Cannon that has elevated her to new heights? But the real question is, will she start to top the eBay charts?
A-Rod’s wife filed for divorce yesterday, July 8th. He appears to be coping using Kabbalah techniques taught by his rumored new ladyfriend, Madonna. eBay sells hundreds of Kabbalah books, jewelry, and accoutrements. He can accessorize himself—we’ll start calling him the “Material Boy.”

The Scoop on “The Sauce”
Posted Tuesday, May 20th, 2008 in Pop Culture
Yesterday I had the distinct pleasure of appearing on the Fuse Network program, “The Sauce”, a high-energy show (complete with a cheering live audience!) that focuses on music, TV, movies, and interviews with hot stars. I went on the show to discuss all of the important news of the day: American Idol, Mariah vs. Madonna, Sex and the City, and Indiana Jones. We chatted about my love of Idol finalist David Cook, and how all of the aforementioned stars, shows, and silver screen favorites are all selling like hotcakes on eBay. Also appearing on the show yesterday was Jessica Szohr who plays Vanessa on Gossip Girl. Naturally I had to sneak into her dressing room to snap a pic with her! She was as sweet as sugar, and GORGEOUS in person. Truthfully, even I felt like a mini-star, they had my name on my dressing room door and were scurrying around making sure our team had enough ice, cold drinks, and snacks to keep us satiated. Too much! All in all, it was a great spot and we had a blast. Fuse is simply fab!

From Across the Pond: “American Boy”
Posted Friday, May 2nd, 2008 in Pop Culture
I just returned from a jaunt across the Atlantic and I am here to tell you what’s hot on the music scene in Europe. I listened to a lot of radio while I was driving on the opposite side of the road in Ireland and can come to the following conclusions: the European stations love Miss Mariah and Mr. Kanye West. It seemed like those two were on every station, like, every 20 minutes—it was as though “Touch My Body” was on repeat. Moreover on the music scene, Kylie Minogue, The Kooks, and the Guillemots are très popular in Paris. But I have news; while cruising I found a hot new track featuring Kanye (natch) that is going to be HUGE stateside. It comes courtesy of Estelle (an artist I mentioned in a previous post) and is aptly dubbed, “American Boy.” It is totally infectious and I could not wait to get back to the states and download a copy.
