New Show: MTV’s “The City”

Posted October 21st, 2008

Personally, I think that The Hills has gone downhill this season, way downhill. I long for the episodes where Heidi’s face did not look like it was melting and when L.C. did more than just whine and act like a character from Mean Girls. The show has certainly jumped the shark and my guess is that it will fade into the LA night fairly soon. However, Whitney Port, the series’ fashion maven is getting her own spin-off set in NYC aptly titled, The City. From the looks of the preview below it seems like we will be seeing more of the same—bitchy bosses, multiple fashion changes, little braids in the hair, and mangy male characters. In comparison to Lauren Conrad’s faux charm, Port’s earnest demeanor just may make this one more watchable.

Get Smart with a Pen? Yes!

Posted October 20th, 2008

The Livescribe Pulse SmartPen is truly one of the best (and smartest) gadgets I’ve ever encountered. The pen records and recalls both audio and handwriting. It has the potential to turn a C student into an A in no time.

Here’s how it works:

Step 1: Using the pen’s special paper take notes in class, during a business presentation, or record deep thoughts.

Step 2: When you go through your notes and find a line that doesn’t make sense just tap the pen at the beginning of the confusing line.

Step 3: A recording or audio reading of your notes automatically begins to play. How amazing is that?!

Bonus: Connect the pen to your computer and it will turn your chicken scratch into a legible Word document!

This thing just blows me away. Take a look.

Video to Watch: McCain Goes All Tyra…Work It!

Posted October 16th, 2008

If you watched the debate last night you probably noticed all of John McCain’s facial contortions. That man sure can blink—he would get housed in a staring contest. Besides the blinking he also scrunched, stretched, and as Tyra likes to call it “smile with the eyes.” She is the master and should have been [...]

I recently came across an inspiring gallery of 50 Beautiful Movie Posters. What is fantastic about this spread is that it covers a wide span of eras—it’s not merely focused on one type or genre or art direction. Some of the work is from yesteryear; Dr. Strangelove, The Birds, THX 1138 and some [...]

Filth & Wisdom: The Madonna Movie

Posted October 14th, 2008

Madonna has oft been chastised for her foray into the acting world. Her infamous performances in films like “Swept Away“, “Body of Evidence,” and  “The Next Best Thing” earned her critical sneers and jeers. Personally, I loved her in “Who’s That Girl?”. Nevertheless, Madonna is not a good actress, maybe she was ok in “Evita,” [...]
