Want to dress like a star, but can’t afford it? Are your children’s wardrobe expenses weighing
you down? Well help is on the way. The idea of not being seen in the same outfit twice is desirable, but not practical. Too expensive – to buy and to store. But how about renting?
I just discovered this for a recent segment I did on the TODAY Show. I knew you could rent bags, but “one wear” wedding gowns, prom dresses, or cocktail dresses? This is great. A couple places to try:
www.OneNightAffair.com …rent it, wear it, return it- all for less.
It’s not the dress, but the jewelry that breaks the bank you say? Try www.BorrowedBling.com. It’s a service similar to NetFlix. You pay a monthly fee and you are able to rent two to three pieces of jewelry based on your membership level. Memberships start at $29 a month. Pick a special accessory piece for each occasion. Celebrities do it….why can’t you?!?!
Dressing kids formally is the biggest challenge. They sprout up overnight. Bought a dress or formal pants for them last fall, they’ don’t fit now. A more economical way to get children’s formal wear is through www.Gagas.com. Rent clothes for church, a wedding, big brother’s graduation. Lots of sizes and colors. The idea that you can rent a kid’s formalwear is genius.

What’s cheaper than renting? Buy it on eBay. Wear it. Then sell it on eBay. You can often sell it for what you paid for it… and sometimes more.
When you’re “renting” from any of these companies, the items that you’re getting were only “new” to the first person who rented it. Even if it costs you $400 or more- if you can wear it for a weekend and then resell it for about what you bought it for- or more
You’ll save on membership & monthly fees.
So, why not buy a pre-owned piece that is in amazing condition? It’s good for the environment. Then re-sell it, and it’s good for the pocketbook!
