Now that the holidays are over many of you will be hunkering down to save some dough. If you’ve already watched all of the DVDs you can handle then perhaps it’s time to think about game night. Games feed the competitive spirit and sharpen the brain—certainly more than watching an epic Adam Sandler movie marathon. That being said, my favorite new game is called Bananagrams. It’s like Scrabble-lite—there’s no board, no official rule book, and the chips come in a fashionable yellow banana sack. ‘Grams is totally reasonable ($14.95 + shipping on eBay!) and great if you are a crossword fiend or love anagrams. So supplement your upcoming ski vacation with Banagrams or a classic like Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, or my personal favorite, Hungry Hungry Hippos.

Dancing Celebrity Elves
Posted December 30th, 2008
Christmas may be over but my holiday cheer is still intact. Celebrity disco dancing is season-less and of course, timeless. Ever thought you would see Heidi Montag, Britney Spears, Michael Phelps, Brad Pitt, and Jennifer Aniston break it down? Well, now is your chance. We know that Phelps can swim, but did you know he could do the splits? And you thought Jen and Brad would never dance together again. Think again!

Buzzwords of 2008
Posted December 29th, 2008

The end of the year always brings Top 10 lists, photographic essays of the year’s biggest stories, and of course, the year in buzz—buzzwords that is. The NY Times recently published an article about the year’s most catchy phrases. Many of them have to do with the election and the recession, but some are real pop culture nuggets independent of the state of the union. Of course so many of the terms were represented on eBay, Obama, Phelps, and Palin all had thousands of related-items sold in relation to their likeness. Here are some of my favorites below:
Caribou Barbie: “A nickname for the former vice-presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska.”*
Obamanation: “President-elect Barack Obama’s name continues to provoke an avalanche of one-offs.”
Frugalista: “A person who is frugal but fashionable.”
Staycation: “A vacation from work or school that does not involve traveling.”
Phelpsian: “Excellent in the fashion of the swimmer Michael Phelps, who won eight medals and set seven world records at the 2008 Summer Olympics.”
Lipstick on a Pig: “An adornment of something that can’t be made pretty.”
Pregorexia:”Obsession with staying thin by a pregnant woman.”
Recessionista: “Originally, someone who favored a recession as ultimately good for the economy. Now, a person who stays fashionable during an economic downturn without spending a lot of money.”
Twi-Hard: “A fan of Stephenie Meyer’s “Twilight” book series about vampires. Rhymes with “die-hard.”

Top Dog
Posted December 23rd, 2008
Do dogs love to get dressed up as much as humans do? I don’t know, but they sure look adorable when they do.
Here are my fashion ideas for pets this holiday season –
• For New Year’s parties, a lace dress with a bow for her. Or, for him, a top hat and tuxedo.

Paltrow’s Pop Culture Polish
Posted December 22nd, 2008
We know that Gwyneth Paltrow turns heads wherever she goes, fashion is a huge part of her package. From head to toe Miss P. is always perfectly polished. Which leads me to her latest trend foray, gray nailpolish. However, there is a caveat, I have been rocking the gray polish for a little while and [...]
